In a talk with Mike Johnson of PWInsider prior to this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, TNT Champion Cody (don’t call him) Rhodes discussed many topics. However, one topic may be of particular interest to AEW’s growing number of TNT title challengers. The grandson of a plumber revealed that he likely only has fire more years left in the tank as far as in-ring competition. Considering that, he sees these open challenges as an “open mic” of sorts, a showcase that will help cement his legacy.
It’s very important to me, very…I think some people might think it’s silly but I’m a wrestler so it’s not silly to me but it is important to me that I grow as a wrestler, I’m only going to do this for 5 more years and the next 5 more years I want to really carve out that bell to bell aspect of what I was able to do.
In the full interview, Cody also discusses the importance of Sonny Kiss’ challenge for the title, the new normal for The Elite in AEW’s corporate structure, and why he’s no longer a featured player of Being The Elite. You can read up on all that and more over on PWInsider.
