Edge Is ‘Really Stubborn’ About Retiring On His Own Terms

2020 began with Edge returning to WWE after nine years on the shelf. By the June pay-per-view, WWE Backlash, Edge was featured in the headlining match against Randy Orton in what was dubbed “The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever.” While Randy and Edge might not have fully delivered on that claim, the match was certainly one that garnered critical acclaim.

Another takeaway from that WrestleMania 36 return match was Edge suffering a torn triceps in what was only his second singles encounter after nine years in forced retirement.

Speaking with Booker T on his podcast, Edge confirmed that the injury occurred on what would be the final RKO in the match, but when asked if this injury so soon into his return was going to lead to Edge hanging it up once again, “The Rated R Superstar” continued to display that characteristic grit he spoke of upon his return in January.

“I want to finish it on my terms. I’m really stubborn on that in this run, I guess. I really want to, with this, try and show that selling still sells. I feel like that’s been lost. Don’t get me wrong, I’m guilty, too. You can watch the TLC matches and say ‘but, but, but!’ And I get it. I was young and I was there and I did it. I was always told by the Steve Austins, by the ‘Takers of the world, ‘hey man, if you just slowed down and tried this and that, and this and that.’ When I started doing that, that’s when I started making real money.”

In his most recent promo, Edge once again vowed vengeance on Randy Orton, going so far as to say Randy would wish that his father “was shooting blanks” on the night that Randy was conceived.
