On the last WWE RAW before WWE WrestleMania 36, Edge sent another heated message to Randy Orton ahead of their match. Edge said that Orton was right; he is a junkie for wrestling, but he said all wrestlers should be addicted to it. Edge then contrasted his definition of grit with Orton’s version. “To you, grit seems to be [being] handpicked by evolution, coasting off and on with occasional bursts of magic.” Edge said that Orton lacks passion and the Rated R Superstar has plenty of it.
"You dug yourself another hole, didn't you @RandyOrton? This time, I'm not gonna pull you back out. I am gonna push you so far in, you will NEVER get back out!" – @EdgeRatedR

Edge reminded Orton how he saved him from a deep hole a long tie ago. “To me, grit is the type of man who will reach down into that hole, who will pull somebody out who probably doesn’t deserve it.” Edge said that while Orton has had the benefit of his last name, the Rated R Superstar gas carved his own path. Edge admitted he was wrong. “I was wrong,” said Edge. “I said that you were jealous of me. You’re not jealous of me, you’re jealous of my passion. You can’t fabricate passion and I have it. The only time you have it is when I’m around.”

Edge said Orton needs him, and he’s afraid of that dependence. “I make you better,” said Edge. “This is the best Randy Orton has ever been.”
Finally, Edge vowed to defeat Orton this weekend. “You dug yourself another hole, didn’t you, Randy? And this time, I’m not gonna pull you back out. I’m gonna push you so far in, you will never get back out.”
