Update: PWInsider.com is reporting the early word on Styles is that he is dealing with a shoulder separation but he’ll have testing done as soon as possible to diagnose the injury.
Fightful is also reporting Styles’ elimination from the match did not go down as originally intended. A referee was in communication with Edge prior to eliminating Styles, and medics assisted him after he exited the match.
Dave Meltzer is confirming on this morning’s Wrestling Observer Radio that AJ Styles encountered a legitimate injury after taking a spear from a returning Edge during the Royal Rumble match. Styles was seen heavily favoring his left shoulder when he turned himself inside out on the selling of the move. Styles was soon eliminated from the match.
As far as the severity of the injury itself, no details have come to fruition yet but Styles left arm was dangling during the process of him being eliminated from the bout. WrestleZone will be sure to keep you updated as this story develops.
