Zicky Dice On Introducing The World To His ‘Outlandish’ Persona Through NWA, Character Inspirations

Nick Zoppo has achieved success in the music world and now he’s primed to make a statement in the world of professional wrestling as Zicky Dice.

Zicky recently spoke with Wrestlezone’s Kevin Kellam ahead of this weekend’s NWA Hard Times pay-per-view and TV tapings in Atlanta. The “Outlandish” one is aiming to win the NWA World Television Championship at the event but also stays busy with his band Heart To Heart, who are set to release their new album ‘Heartbreaker’ on February 14. Dice talks about the revived energy in the NWA brand and how he fits into things, noting that he’s not only looking for some gold but he’s going to introduce himself to a lot more viewers.

“I’ve been through hell already! I’ve had to win two matches—not one, but two—just to earn a spot in this tournament. January 24 in Atlanta, Georgia, I’m going for the NWA World Television title and I need that title more than anything. I’m going to tell you right now,” Dice said, “this is a stage that I’ve been waiting for and I think it’s a good chance for the world to finally meet “Outlandish” Zicky Dice.”

“It’s been an honor. With as much history as the NWA has—you name the greats and they’ve all passed through. Just being a part of that and being part of the TV title tournament, it’s just unreal. I feel like it’s a style of wrestling that I love and I grew up watching and enjoying. It’s something I’ve based my character around,” Dice said, “so for me, it’s a perfect fit. I’m excited to see what the future has for me; if you haven’t tuned in to watch NWA Powerrr it airs every Tuesday at 6:05 on YouTube.com/NWA for free. You can’t beat that. It’s hot, we’re growing weekly.”

Zoppo grew up as a wrestling fan but broke into the business after connecting with Seth Rollins while touring with his band, and later trained at the WWE star’s Black And Brave Wrestling Academy. Zoppo says it’s been about five years since he made the decision to venture “from one side of the circus to the other” as a rock star and wrestler, and gave a little insight as to where the ‘Zicky’ character came from.

“I grew up hating Mr. Perfect, Rick “The Model” Martel, “Ravishing” Rick Rude, but now they’ve grown to become my favorites. That’s what you remember and that’s what got me into wrestling—the bright colors, the characters, the charisma—and that’s what I like to add and carry on to “Outlandish” Zicky Dice. I’m still learning and growing as we go,” Zicky said, “trying to figure out what the hell I’m doing but it’s just been taking off. I’ve explained it—my fianceé told me ‘Zicky Dice is not invited to the bachelor party or wedding. Zicky writes checks that Nick can’t cash.”
