Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer is reporting further details regarding Tony Schiavone‘s AEW job duties after it was announced that the legendary wrestling broadcaster has signed a multi-year deal with the company.
According to Meltzer, Schiavone will not be a regular behind the commentary table during TV broadcasts. Meltzer reports that things are in a “state of flux” but the announce team slated for television play-by-play is Jim Ross, Alex “Goldenboy” Mendez and Excalibur. Meltzer states everything is being worked out right now, but the trio from Fyter Fest looks to be taking the main reigns at the moment.
Schiavone will not be at All Out according to Meltzer but he will be at most of the TV tapings despite his heavy work schedule with his other jobs (that includes MLW). He will be doing on-air work with AEW and there will be times that he will do play-by-play, but Tony is not believed to be someone who will be on commentary week after week. Along with his work on air as a personality and a voice, a great deal of Tony’s job will focus on being a producer.
In addition, Meltzer says Alex Marvez will be at All Out as well. He’ll be doing work involving backstage segments, possibly in video packages.
