Yes, you read that right. Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson are going for world championship gold in the year 2019.
Ring of Honor has announced that the hall of fame wrestling duo the Rock ‘N Roll Express will challenge Mark and Jay Briscoe for the Ring of Honor World Tag Team Championships. The match will go down at ROH Honor For All 2019, which takes place at the Nashville Fairgrounds Sports Arena on Aug. 25. It will air live on Honor Club this Saturday.
Here’s the official announcement:
One of the greatest tag teams of all time get their first shot at the Ring of Honor World Tag Team Championships in one of the most historic wrestling cities in the country: Hall of Famers Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson, the Rock ‘N’ Roll Express, look to get revenge and leave Nashville with the ROH World Tag Team Championships when they challenge Jay and Mark Briscoe!
The Briscoes have been a violent menace since dedicating themselves full time to the ROH tag team division once more. Their 11th ROH World Tag Team Championship win in New York City at Manhattan Mayhem puts them in rarified air when talking about the all-time great tag teams and their recent wars with the Guerillas of Destiny over the tag team gold has seen them wave the ROH banner high.
For years, Hall of Famers Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson have electrified Tennessee crowds. In Nashville, they get their first-ever opportunity to become ROH World Tag Team Champions and their first opportunity to gain revenge for the bloodying beating they received at Crockett Cup.
Excited for the match?
