Tully Blanchard will be in the corner of Shawn Spears when he goes up against Cody Rhodes at AEW All Out, but that doesn’t mean Tully is doing it just for himself. Speaking to ITV Wrestling, Blanchard spoke about his relationship with Spears. “If you’re a good hand, you are a faithful tagalong. I think that says it all. I got a phone call from a great athlete, a very successful athlete that was being underappreciated and he asked me how to get his career to the top. I said if you take down one of the Rhodes then that will take you to the top in anybody’s book.
Blanchard also spoke about what it would mean to be part of the team to take down Rhodes, and how it’ll just be an added bonus of sorts. “Now I’m being brought in to help a little bit because of the knowledge I have with Cody’s father. I probably know Dusty as good as anybody across the ring,” he said. “I know what makes the Rhodes family tick. That is what Shawn has asked me to do, to give him that knowledge. Any grudge I have with the Rhodes family, it’s not there. This is because there is a very talented young man that has great potential. He is excellence personified, but we’ve got to sharpen the edge. Taking down a Rhodes is just going to be part of the master plan. I think bringing back some of that intensity and getting the master plan moving forward, I think you saw the first steps of that. They don’t need to be discussed anymore because a picture is way more revealing than words.”
