The 29th G1 Climax Winner Kota Ibushi spoke at a press conference on Tuesday to address his plans for Wrestle Kingdom 14. Traditionally, the G1 Climax Winner is allowed to challenge for whichever title they like in the main event of the January 4th Tokyo Dome show. This is complicated by this year’s Wrestle Kingdom being two nights long, including a January 5th show. Ibushi had an interesting suggestion for the shows, let him headline both.
Ibushi suggested that he challenge for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship and then the IWGP Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship, no matter who the champions might be. This would be an interesting challenge for the wrestler. No match has been signed as of yet.
Ibushi also said that he would defend the G1 Climax Challenge Certificate against EVIL and KENTA, as both men have victories over him in the G1 Climax.
Kota Ibushi has suggested the possibility of back to back championship matches at the Tokyo Dome on January 4 and 5. Could he face first the Heavyweight Champion and then the Intercontinental Champion?
