Kota Ibushi pinned IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada on Saturday to advance to the finals of the G1 Climax for the second year in a row. Ibushi lost the G1 Climax Finals to Hiroshi Tanahashi in 2018.
Ibushi made waves this year by finally signing a contract with NJPW, after spending the majority of his career as a freelancer. The Golden Star said he intends to end his career in NJPW.
Ibushi will face the winner of the tournament’s B Block. Currently Tomohiro Ishii, Hirooki Goto, Tetsuya Naito & Jay White are all in contention. The B Block finals will take place on Sunday, August 11th, at 5am ET and will air LIVE on NJPWWorld.com
The G1 Climax Finals will air at 2am ET on Monday, August 12th.
