Despite working on the series for nearly 20 years, Japanese studio Yuke’s will not be the WWE 2K20 developer. Instead, 2K’s own Visual Concepts team will take the helm for the first time. They had previously worked with Yuke’s on past titles in a support role since WWE 2K14, and this will mark a big shift in the development structure. While Yuke’s won’t be involved in development, they will still offer engine support for the series as the game isn’t being remade from the ground-up this year.
Despite this news, Yuke’s still wants to create wrestling games. They are actually working on their own original wrestling IP right now. Not much is known about it, but the company decided to do it because they wanted to reinvigorate their staff.
