Collector’s Corner: WWE Top Picks Elites 2019 (Photos)

Mattel highlights the top WWE superstars of 2019 with their latest WWE Top Picks Elites 2019 series. This is much like the 2018 series, just with updated attires. You can currently get these over on RingsideCollectibles.com and SAVE 10% with discount code MBG at checkout!

The set includes:

  • AJ Styles
  • Braun Strowman
  • Finn Bálor
  • Seth Rollins

Many collectors griped over the fact it’s the exact same lineup as last year, but Mattel claims the purpose behind this series is to keep the top superstars on shelves year round for new collectors to easily find the top stars at the store.

Braun Strowman

Braun is the exact same as his Elite 68 figure, but in new packaging. The packaging features the Top Picks color scheme, an image of Braun on one side while his name is on the other followed by a large image of Braun on the back besides showcasing the others in the set. Since Braun is the exact same I recommend checking out my Elite 68 review of him.

Regardless that it is the same, it’s a great figure. The scan looks just like him and he comes with some great accessories, such as the green MITB briefcase and a destructible bass. Not to mention all the detail in his attire is great, too. If you need an updated Braun or just one in general I recommend this one for sure.

AJ Styles

AJ is probably my favorite in the set. I love the detail on his and the color of his attire just really pops. Not to mention his head scan is his best to date. The detail in his gloves and attire in general is just so impressive. Mattel really went all out on this figure just like they did his Elite 66 figure. This figure is essentially a repaint of that one as it comes with the same accessories: swappable hands, a WWE Championship and removable rubber shirt.

Overall, this figure is fantastic. From the detail in his attire to his chest hair to the abdomen tattoo, it’s just awesome. My only real complaint is his shirt. It doesn’t fasten closed that well and because it’s rubber it’s a bit challenging to remove from under his hair. Just be patient when removing it. Other than that I love it. If you skipped the Elite 66 one be sure to pick this one up.

Seth Rollins

Seth is an interesting figure in that he’s a bit of a re-release in way, just with a new head, swappable hands and a shirt accessory instead of his entrance gear. Mattel released this figure awhile back with a yelling head scan, which may be why it looks a bit familiar to you. This time around they used an all black haired version of his NXT Elite head scan. He comes with a Monday Night Rollins fabric shirt, which is a nice accessory at least.

Overall, this figure is ok. I do really like the attire but I’d have liked to see one of his many other attires we’ve yet to see in figure form. The scan is not my favorite scan as I don’t feel its that great of a likeness compared to his latest head scan they’ve released. The fabric shirt is a nice accessory to have though. And of course he has swappable fists and open hands to hold accessories, but it’s not my favorite Rollins figure.

Finn Bálor

Lastly we have Finn Bálor, which is also a repaint of his previous Top Picks Elite figure, but this is probably my second favorite in the set. I love we got his gray attire as it’s different compared to his other non-demon attires we’ve gotten in figure form. He does have a rubber jacket, which is very challenging to remove so be patient when doing so. Besides that I just love the gray kick pads and trunks with the black accents. The front of his trunks says Balor Club I believe while the back of his trunks has the Balor Club logo.

Overall, this figure is nice minus the jacket. The jacket is a thicker rubber, making it quite difficult to remove. Be patient when doing so as you could risk breaking the figure if you’re too rough with it. Besides that the detail on the jacket is great as it has the BC logo faintly on the back. But as mentioned before I really love the gray attire as it just really sticks out compared to his previous non-demon figures. I personally recommend this one as it’s a unique Bálor.

Overall

The set isn’t bad. Several of the figures this time around are much nicer. I prefer the previous Rollins though if I had to choose. But the other three are much better in this set than the 2018 one. These are currently available on Ringside if you don’t want to wait to get your hands on ’em!
