NJPW GM Says Jon Moxley Deal Was Independent Of AEW; Mox’s First Indie Dates, Opponents Confirmed

NJPW GM Says Jon Moxley Deal Was Independent Of AEW

Former WWE star Dean Ambrose (also known as Jon Moxley) made his All Elite Wrestling (AEW) debut this past weekend at Double Or Nothing. Moxley attacked Chris Jericho and brawled with Kenny Omega to close out the pay-per-view (PPV). In addition to signing a multi-year deal with AEW, Ambrose has also come to terms on an agreement with New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW).

He’ll debut for NJPW on June 5. According to Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, NJPW GM Michael Craven has confirmed that Moxley’s agreement with NJPW is completely separate from AEW. As of this writing, AEW and NJPW do not have a working relationship with one another:

New Japan Pro Wrestling GM Michael Craven: “New Japan and Jon Moxley came to terms on an agreement some time ago, completely independently of All Elite. Our understanding is that he is free to wrestle in Japan. We wish AEW well, but have no working relationship as of now.”

Moxley To Face Darby Allin, Pentagon On New Indie Dates

On a related note, Moxley has also been confirmed as appearing for Northeast Wrestling this summer. Moxley will face off with Darby Allin at the promotion’s June 14 and 15 events, while he will compete against Pentagon Jr at NEW’s shows August 16-18.

AEW’s Tony Khan told press after Double Or Nothing that while Moxley is on a full-time deal with them, he would be available for select indie and international appearances when All Elite’s schedule was lighter.
