Current NXT Champion Johnny Gargano put pen to paper for Sports Illustrated and reviewed Avengers: Endgame. Johnny Wrestling has made no secret of his Marvel fandom, going to the ring in several superhero-inspired costumes when he has a match at TakeOver.
Here's a closer look at my #NXTTakeOver: New York gear.
When @AdamRichesArt and I spoke about TakeOver design inspirations.. this was always the end game.
Outside of the obvious Candice cupcake Easter Egg (that she didn't know about!).. can you find the other? ❤ @MainEventGear pic.twitter.com/OCqNGRZ8bz

He also already shared his thoughts on the film via Twitter, where he thought the movie was perfect. “It’s not just a movie… it’s a happening.”
YES.. I've seen #AvengersEndgame.. TWICE actually..
..and it's PERFECT.
Maybe it's the Pro Wrestler in me but some of the reactions from seeing it with a large audience this past weekend made it even better!
It's not just a movie.. it's a happening. #ThankYouAvengers

In the review, Johnny concedes that there are questions to be asked about the film. He questions Captain Marvel’s absence from the larger moments of the film, as well as the complicated mechanics of time travel they introduce. Overall though, he states that the movie was the closest thing he could come to being a wrestling fan.
Much like in the world of WWE and NXT, you genuinely care for these characters and you want to cheer them on. You want to see them succeed, and on the flip side, you want to see Thanos pay. That’s wrestling 101.
