When John Oliver did a segment on the WWE on his show a couple of weeks ago, it sparked a discussion about WWE superstars and the lack of benefits that they get, thanks to their designation as independent contractors. Now, former WWE superstar Ryback has taken to social media and asked the company to address issues.
@wwe @VinceMcMahon @TripleH @StephMcMahon instead of inviting @iamjohnoliver to a show, why don’t you publicly explain your reasons for the independent contractor deal. Its 2019 and surely you recognize how wrong you are in this matter. Do the right thing, the talent deserve it.

Although the WWE invited Oliver to WrestleMania 35 and seemed to open a dialogue involving the issue, some in the industry still want more from the company. Yesterday, Ryback took to Twitter and called out the WWE, Vince McMahon, Triple H, and Stephanie McMahon, asking them all to do “the right thing” and publicly explain why the company still employs wrestlers as independent contractors. It’s unlikely that WWE will respond, but it is interesting to see more former superstars coming out and speaking on this subject.
