According to this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Rey Mysterio’s ankle injury is legitimate.
WWE announced Mysterio was being pulled from his match against Andrade due to an ankle injury sustained in his match against Baron Corbin. WWE only announced he was being removed from the SmackDown match, but there has been plenty of speculation about his status going into Sunday’s title match. At this time he is still scheduled to face Samoa Joe for the United States Championship, and the extent of his injury is unknown. In WWE.com’s update, it was noted that Mysterio would be re-examined by doctors before the title match at Wrestlemania 35.
Baron Corbin ended up defeating Mysterio on RAW, avoiding a five-star frog splash before hitting End Of Days for the win.
