WWE will return to Saudi Arabia on May 3rd for another live event, according to a report by Fightful.com.
The new event will be WWE’s third event under a ten-year partnership with the Saudi General Sports Authority to host events in the country. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter first reported WWE was looking at two events in Saudi Arabia in 2019, with the first sometime in May, followed by another unnamed event in November.
WWE has not announced the event publicly; it was initially speculated in the Observer that these events won’t be announced for “as long as possible” to possibly keep heat away from the company due to recent events in the country. WWE came under fire in the weeks and days leading up to WWE Crown Jewel due to the controversy surrounding the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi and Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s possible role in the murder.
