Petey Williams has taken umbrage with Adam Cole’s finishing move, but it’s not for the reason you might think. The IMPACT Wrestling veteran has no issue with Cole using a Canadian Destroyer, but has beef with it being called “Panama Sunrise.”
He went to social media to explain his issue. “I don’t care who does the move,” wrote the former TNA X Division Champion who brought the move to prominence in 2004. “Changing the name of it is the biggest disrespect.” He also explained that it isn’t a slight to him, but to the deceased Doug Chevalier, who the move is named after.
Some fans have pushed back against his sentiment on Twitter by arguing that Cole has called the move by that name since he was a star in Ring of Honor. That hasn’t convinced Williams. He sarcastically replied, “Is that what Cole named it when I did it off the 2nd at Victory Road 2004 when he was 14? Ok. You win.”
