Earlier today, WWE announced that WWE Superstar John Cena will not be participating at tonight’s Royal Rumble event, after suffering an ankle injury a couple weeks ago on RAW. Now the company has officially announced Cena’s replacement. Cathy Kelley made a backstage announcement today at Chase Field and informed the wrestling world that none other than The Monster Among Men, Braun Strowman, would be replacing John Cena. The winner of the 30 man Royal Rumble match will receive a championship opportunity at WrestleMania 35. A victory would be a welcome opportunity for Strowman, who had a Royal Rumble Universal Championship opportunity rescinded after he destroyed Vince McMahon‘s limo looking to even the score with former RAW GM Baron Corbin.
