Not only did Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa win our award for Feud of the Year, but they also managed to put on the best match of 2018! As voted by the fans, their bout at NXT TakeOver: Chicago won our award with 23.2% of the vote. Only five votes separated this from the second place match, Charlotte Flair vs Becky Lynch at WWE Evolution.
This was their second match this year, as the two had an unsanctioned fight at TakeOver: New Orleans. It’d be followed up with a rematch at TakeOver: Brooklyn IV, but the Chicago Street Fight received the most praise. The match played into the feud perfectly and the street fight stipulation fit into the personal grudge storyline. Ultimately, Ciampa was able to defeat Gargano and gain the upper hand.
