One of the rising stars of Lucha Libre may have found a new home in Ring Of Honor.

According to a report from Luchablog, independent luchador Bandido has signed a contract with the promotion. ROH is currently undergoing a rebuilding phase in the midst of losing a number of Elite talent following Final Battle weekend and Bandido is a step in the right direction. The luchador will also be the first Mexican-born wrestler to sign a full-time contract with the company.

Bandido started primarily in the independent lucha circuit, gaining a following as one-half of the tag team ‘Mexablood” with Flamita. The two would tour in Japan for Dragon Gate before working in the United States for PWG and AAW. His performances would gain the attention of various promotions all over the world, including Mexico’s AAA and UK’s PROGRESS Wrestling. He would eventually co-headline the All In event in September, teaming with Fenix and Rey Mysterio against The Young Bucks and Kota Ibushi.

Following PWG’s Battle Of Los Angeles tournament, where Bandido was a finalist, the luchador was sought after by a litany of other promotions, including WWE. In the report, Bandido would attend an undisclosed tryout with the promotion but passed on WWE to continue seeking other options.

Bandido is slated to start in Ring of Honor at the beginning of 2019.
