The NXT UK contract situation has been the subject of much debate over the past week, but now more information has come out thanks to the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required). The major change is that there are now three types of NXT UK contracts being offered. The most restrictive are to those WWE views as major stars, while the least restrictive ones will basically be business as usual.
The lower-tier NXT UK talent weren’t even contacted about any changes. That’s because their contracts have stayed the same. Meanwhile, a secondary group had their contracts rollover for another year (with no raise), and can still work at other places (although they can’t compete against talent from “competitive promotions”). Meanwhile, the third tier is the top stars (such as Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate, Toni Storm, Jordan Devlin, etc.) that now have exclusivity to the promotion and received a raise.
One interesting note is that the list of competitive promotions, which includes companies like New Japan Pro-Wrestling and Ring of Honor, doesn’t list IMPACT Wrestling as a competitor. That shows that the relationship between WWE and IMPACT has improved quite a bit from the past. This news comes out in spite of IMPACT reportedly pulling LAX from an EVOLVE card.
