2008 was a huge year for WWE. It saw the beginning of the PG Era and a completely new direction for WWE. With John Cena returning from injury shockingly early at the start of the year, he would naturally be the most important figure in the company for a good part of the calendar year. He did get injured, but other superstars like Chris Jericho were the ones who really stepped up the plate.
While Cena was the most important figure, the WWE title picture didn’t necessarily revolve around him as it had for the 2005-2007 period. There was definitely a step-up in terms of quality of the product, with many matches delivering in a big way. The year also had one of the most underrated WrestleManias of all time in WrestleMania 24.
