NXT Takeover was introduced in 2014, and it took absolutely no time to find its success and acclaim. Each year, Takeover shows would always get bigger and better, and there would be a newer crop of talent performing and main eventing the shows. Even in times like 2016, where the NXT product wasn’t up to its standard quality that it had set for itself, Takeover shows always delivered.
It was special because we could see the rising stars and the future stars of WWE tear it up in front of an incredible crowd. The fact that Takeover shows generally attracts a more hardcore audience means that the reactions are often better, and the crowd is more patient with longer matches.
