5 Most Underwhelming Main Events In WrestleMania History

#1.) Hulk Hogan vs Yokozuna – WrestleMania IX

WrestleMania IX should have been Bret Hart’s moment. He was defending the WWE Championship against Royal Rumble winner Yokozuna, in what was the first year where the Rumble winner would start receiving guaranteed WrestleMania title shots. Hart was distraught when he learned that he would have to be dropping the title because Hulk Hogan was returning.

In fact, Hulk Hogan was a part of a tag team title match earlier that day which he lost. Since he was returning and a star attraction, the agreement was probably that it would end with him winning the WWF Championship. Hart ended up losing the title to Yokozuna, and out came Hogan to “save the day”. In what can undoubtedly be called the worst WrestleMania main event in history, Hogan beat Yokozuna in 22-seconds to become WWF Champion.

He would drop it back to Yokozuna at King of the Ring later on, instead of dropping it to Bret Hart in the originally planned “passing of the torch” match.
