Aysha Opens Up About Her ‘Full Circle’ Moment With Flatbacks Coach Shawn Spears

Aysha looks back on her reunion with Shawn Spears.

In the winter of 2023, Australia native Aysha 10,000 miles for an opportunity. This opportunity, of course, was an eight-week training program at the Florida-based Flatbacks Wrestling School, led by Shawn Spears and Tyler Breeze. Eight months later, Aysha’s intense training would come full circle with a reunion on her home turf in Australia.

While speaking with WrestleZone’s Ella Jay, the “First Class” talent recalled her fond meeting with Spears during WSW’s Full Throttle tour last October. On this particular occasion, Aysha vied for the then vacant WSW Women’s Championship. Meanwhile, Spears defended (and eventually lost) the WSW World Heavyweight Championship in a series of matches. Spears’ wife Cassie Lee also competed on the tour, notably claiming the aforementioned WSW Women’s Championship.

“Getting Spears to see me maybe like 8 or 9 months later, seeing what I’m up to, seeing what I’m doing, and even being backstage with Cassie, I watched her before she was signed as well, that was a cool, full circle moment,” Aysha said. “Obviously I really wanted to cook because Spears was there. I’m like ‘Can you please watch this match? Please give me feedback?'”

“Then me and Harley [Cameron] went out there. We killed it. Was so nervous because we were in a gauntlet match. I unfortunately lost, but I went to the back and I look over the Spears and I was very nervous of what he was doing, and he just gave me a thumbs up. I was like, ‘Oh, thank God.’ Then after the show, I asked him for feedback. He was very happy, very impressed. Saying that I was pretty much implementing the stuff that they taught me there. So that was the best case scenario for me.”

Since returning to Australia in mid-March 2023, Aysha has dramatically risen in the independent wrestling rankings. Notably, Aysha acquired the Renegades of Wrestling Women’s Championship, a title she has now held for nearly 500 days.

“It was really cool to reunite with [Spears] because there was some things I was just struggling with at Flashbacks,” Aysha said. “Now to show him that like hey, I listen to what you guys were telling me, so cool.”
