Akira Tozawa is one of several unique pieces that makes Alpha Academy excel.
WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard recently spoke with Akira Tozawa about his allegiance with Alpha Academy. Tozawa highlighted why each member of the group adds something that makes them a successful unit.
“I think it’s chemistry. Chad is very strong, [he’s an] ex-Olympian. Otis is a big guy, a super big guy. And then Maxxine Dupri, beautiful. And then there I am dancing. [Laughs] So yeah, I think we’re a good team.”
Cruiserweight Classic
Tozawa got his start in Japan with Dragon Gate, but he reached a bigger spotlight by entering the WWE Cruiserweight Classic in 2016. Tozawa highlighted his third-round match with Gran Metalik (the eventual runner-up of the tournament) as one that still stood out.
“Oh, yeah. So actually, I was so nervous, and I don’t remember [the details of] each match. But I had a third [round] match in that Cruiserweight Classic against Gran Metalik. I remember it was a very good match. And then the people and crowd were very good. I lost, but I was so happy.”
