Heavy Machinery Squash Competition
Otis Dozovic and Tucker Knight face off against Lars Sullivan and Victor Andrews. Sullivan is a powerhouse and connects with a massive body slam before tagging his much smaller opponent in. Andrews gets tripped up and Knight ends up getting him in a bear hug. Otis comes in and does the same thing. A few punches separates him, but the big boys squash him with a body slam and then Knight using his body to add more power. Heavy Machinery pick up the win and Lars attacks his opponent after.
A very unimpressive match, but I do think there is potential for Heavy Machinery. They need plenty of development and make it fast if they want to be contenders to The Authors of Pain. I fear that Otis is going to be a guy that the smart fans turn on because of his look and his size. I can see him becoming a Mojo Rawley type guy, where his “hype” and “excitement for what he loves is a negative. As for Lars Sullivan, this guy is a freaking monster. I love his look and his natural strength, He is a brute and his path in NXT could be similar to Braun Strowman. Nothing memorable, but a guy that looks and can grow into something of an attraction on the main roster down the road. His dismantling of Andrews just looked absolutely crazy. That was the best part.
Roderick Strong vs. Bobby Roode?
Roderick Strong comes out and talks about being in NXT, having a beautiful wife and son and then talks about his story. He says thank you that he has been accepted by the NXT Universe. He said he came here for the NXT Championship and says that he wants and needs that title. The NXT Champion comes out to address what Roderick Strong is saying. Roode pretends he is crying from what he has heard. Roode tells him he should be proud and understand that he wants to be the man that faces the champ. He says he wants to play the Bobby Roode Lottery, hoping he hits and moves out of his pathetic trailer park. He tells Strong to stay in his lane and don’t think he is better than he is. He says one day they can take a selfie together and tell his son he was with the champ.
Bobby Roode knows how to belittle someone, especially after a really strong face promo. We do not see these promos get applauded enough, talking about being a good guy and being a family man. For whatever reason, the warped world we live in wants to always cheer for evil in professional wrestling and not a feel good story. The last really “feel good story” that everyone was behind was Daniel Bryan. Can Roddy be booked like that? Possibly.
If Roderick Strong is the next opponent for Bobby Roode, then I am totally on board with that. Like I said in the past, I do think NXT Takeover: Brooklyn should feature a championship match with more than one contender. It has not been done in recent memory and can only help another guy get over without hurting Bobby Roode or continue the dominance of “The Glorious One.” This segment clicked tonight and was beneficial for both men.
