The New Day vs. AJ Styles and Chris Jericho
Kofi Kingston and AJ Styles work in the ring after a commercial break, sending AJ face first into the mat. Kofi rolls him back into the ring and Styles kicks out at two. Kofi hits an suplex and then tags in Big E. He hits a big splash for a two count. AJ reverses a move and hits a Pele Kick. Chris Jericho hits a few shoulder tackles and then heads up top with a dropkick. He hits a kick, a bulldog and then a dropkick to Xavier. Kofi rolls him up for a two count. Jericho hits a Lionsault for two. AJ flies and hits a forearm to Big E. Chris Jericho locks in the Walls of Jericho and picks up the win.
AJ Styles and Chris Jericho pick up another win over The New Day. AJ Styles talks about how they are at the top of the list for the tag team titles. They challenge them for the WWE Tag Team Championships on RAW next week. I think that WWE should NOT do this. Dudley Boyz. Uso’s. League of Nations. Who does Kevin Owens face at WrestleMania? Like, what is the point of these guys teaming together? AJ needs a big moment and need it at WrestleMania, not in a short term tag team with Chris Jericho. Tonight was a really good match, but another interesting direction for some talent floating out in the mid card range.
Kevin Owens vs. The Big Show
Kevin Owens loses in a non-title match against The Big Show on Raw. So, instead of WWE catering to the fans who will be AT WrestleMania, they are going to cater to the fans who care about The Big Show? First off, how many people are truly invested into The Big Show. What does he have to offer in this sort of feud? He is not going to become Intercontinental Champion. He is certainly not going to get more important by this feud, but he is going to slow down Kevin Owens.
This is an awful idea for WWE. Big Show has been here, done that, with multiple guys. Did his feud with Cody Rhodes help him get high praise? No. People tend to forget that feud, but it was a match at WrestleMania 28. Thankfully, Big Show did not hold gold for long. Would it not be better for Kevin Owens to face a more athletic guy, someone like AJ Styles or Chris Jericho? Hell, give me Owens vs. any of the following before Big Show:
Dolph Ziggler, Neville, Tyler Breeze, Titus O’Neil, AJ Styles, Chris Jericho, The Miz, Goldust. Get the picture? If WWE goes through with this match at WrestleMania, it will get booed out of the stadium and that is unfortunate for a special talent like Kevin Owens.
Speaking of Dolph Ziggler, his match was really quick and made NO SENSE AT ALL against The Miz. With the lack of creative direction right now from some mid to major players, the only saving grace is putting 6-8 of them in a Ladder Match for the United States/Intercontinental Championship. This gives them SOME sort of importance at WrestleMania. Again, a lack of direction is very frustrating heading into the final 4 weeks of THE MOST IMPORTANT TIME OF THE YEAR.
