Isenberg Reacts: WWE Raw “What In The World Are They Thinking?”

Golden Opportunity Becomes Dull

wwe rawIt was built up to be a really important match. It should have been and WWE did an excellent job before the match to make it feel really “big.” Charlotte vs. Nikki Bella had the makings of an incredible bout, one that many wanted to see main event Raw. I was in favor of it, but knew that it was not going to happen. With Sting announced to wrestle, it still could steal the show at the top of the final hour. Video packages, Ric Flair and more pushed this as “must-see” for me. What happened after was a total let down.

The match was forgettable. Nothing against the women involved in the match because they worked what was given to them. The actual fighting was not bad, but it was simply not long enough and the ending completely shattered what I was hoping for. WWE does an old trick, giving Nikki and Brie the spotlight. Twin magic worked, even though it didn’t. Brie gets pinned and Charlotte becomes the champion until they reveal it was not Nikki. A reversed decision from Stephanie and Nikki becomes the longest reigning champion in history.

Instead of a Divas Revolution being the main event of Raw, it will not be a third or fourth most important match on a B-show Pay Per View. THAT frustrates me and should upset all of you who want to see these talented women succeed. The ending was obvious, even though I did not see it. Was I dumb? blind? Both? Either way, WWE really dropped the ball on what could have been an incredible story. Instead, we have to rely on WWE continuing to push the right Divas up. Charlotte vs. Nikki will be really good, but do not push this as such a huge match if you are going to end it with that garbage. I could easily give this a low rating, but the build was stellar. The match and ending…eh.
