“You Say You Want a Revolution”, Assessing the WWE Divas Revolution

wwe divasIn the Cuban revolution, Batista was overthrown.

In the Russian revolution, Czar Nicholas II was deposed.

In the American revolution, American democracy ousted the English monarchy.

In the WWE Divas “revolution,” long live the status quo. Long live Queen Nikki.

Which means it’s not a revolution at all.

The talent of the three interlopers from NXT is undeniable, the WWE holdovers’ comparable lack of talent equally so. But the WWE Divas are getting more air time.

The current three-team format, however, has as much pizzazz as the AWA team challenge. Nobody matters enough, and pretty soon nobody will matter at all. You can’t get over nine women at once.

Sasha Banks has done her best to stand out. But with Team BAD, Banks is captain of the Arizona Coyotes. As diluted as a strip-club drink.

Becky Lynch is third fiddle. Lynch is to PCB what Bobby Eaton was to the Dangerous Alliance (WCW version).

Charlotte has gotten her due, and gotten over. But she got pinned by Naomi on Smackdown earlier this month. This week, Lynch got pinned by Brie Bella. Revolutionaries don’t get pinned by B-list talent, let alone the B-list Bella. That’s why so few of the men appear special. Everybody is .500.
