The Flaws in a Battle Royal
Isenberg’s Smackdown Reaction starts with some flaws in the WWE. Rusev wins the battle royal match to retain his WWE United States Championship. In this match, you were able to see some big flaws that the WWE has. Let me say that I am not bashing anyone’s talent or ability inside of the ring. It is more of a bashing of how they are booked and how they are perceived.
The match featured guys like Titus O’Neil, Tyson Kidd, Jack Swagger, Cesaro, Rusev, Jimmy and Jey Uso, and more. First thing I noticed was that NOBODY was going to win this match over Rusev. There are not many credible guys in this match to even be considered for a US Title run. Rusev is head and shoulders better than everyone (in terms of booking) in this match. The only guys that deserve a championship run or even a match against him are Cesaro or Swagger.
As for Rusev, the lack of credible faces in the mid to upper card is hurting him right now. He went from Swagger to Henry to Show and now…back to Swagger? Jack Swagger was not even in the main event of the Survivor Series match. I like Jack, I really do. If he did not beat him on numerous occasions before, why would I care to invest my time into this feud again? There lies the problem WWE has. They have no other storyline for Rusev other than “Anti-American.” The only guy that is American I care to see him face in that storyline is Kurt Angle. That’s not happening anytime soon. Until something big happens with him, it will only be an average to slightly above-average feud for him.
