STEP UP: Cesaro
STEP DOWN: Jack Swagger
It seems like only one of these guys can be relevant at a time. Cesaro happens to be the one involved with US Champion Sheamus at the moment, so Jack Swagger does the job on Main Event. When Swagger was feuding with Rusev, he beat Cesaro on Main Event. They always have decent matches, so neither is really taking that much of a step down, but I wish both could shine.
I know the Swiss Superman is the fan favorite, especially among the internet crowd, but Jack has been around for 6 years and could have been a really big player at this point in the game. He’s not a great talker, that’s been established. That’s what Zeb Colter is for. Right now I think they’re wasting both talents. They’re wasting the crowd’s reaction to the “We the People” chant that could be so much bigger. Swagger was more over at SummerSlam than just about anyone on the roster, and certainly more than he’d ever been in his career. It’s a shame to see that potential sitting on the sidelines more often than not.
