What’s Bothering Me: Brodus Clay, Cruiserweights, HHH/Brock

It’s time to take a look at what’s bothering “me” in pro wrestling this week. Next week, I’ll flip the switch again and give some love to the business. However, it’s the theme of this column to pick a few things I didn’t like, would have done differently, etc., and then WRITE about it. It’s meant for entertainment and discussional purposes only.

It’s sad that I have to reiterate that so much, but it’s necessary it seems.

That being said, let’s get into the three things bothering me:

After last night’s No Way Out pay per view, it looks like Brodus Clay will work a program with Big Show. It’s a HUGE step down for Big Show, but if the plan all along was for him to lose last night, I guess that fact doesn’t really matter much.

If you’re a Brodus Clay fan, this program is exactly what he needs. There are very few others in the company capable of putting him over in the way Big Show can. Brodus is perceived as a big, dominant monster. If they are wanting to elevate him, then working a bigger, more dominant monster (by perception, again), and winning, is a great route to take.

My issue is that I’m still not buying Brodus Clay.

The “dancing” has run its course, and it’s still not getting over. At least, not with those above the age of twelve. And his “real talk” just doesn’t register with me. It didn’t seem to with the live Smackdown audience either.

It’s like he’s a walking-talking contradiction. And something just isn’t clicking.

Is there a chance that his working a real program with Big Show could change my mind? Sure, but until then, I’m counting the weeks AND superstars “I” feel are being wasted on his elevation.

Both are starting to add up.
