Hey Rey…Take Another Vacation

Rey MysterioHEY, REY…TAKE ANOTHER VACATION

When you discuss Rey Mysterio’s wellness policy suspension, one key word should be your focus: Vacation.

Rey took a family vacation to Hawaii not long before SummerFest. It was cleared by WWE, but certainly not approved. Vince McMahon doesn’t believe in vacations, especially when there’s a pay-per-view to plug. Those who know think that McMahon expected Rey to cancel his vacation for the sake of selling SummerFest. Company man, do the right thing, etc. When Rey didn’t, revenge was certain.

If that sounds petty, remember that McMahon is petty. Nuts, too.

That’s the way the WWE wellness policy works. Punishment is selectively inflicted so A) the real world thinks the wellness policy works and B) McMahon can put the wayward in their place.

Do you really think those suspended are the only ones testing red? Do you really think there’s any way – ANY WAY – for guys like Triple H and Batista to look that way without a needle?

When you consider recreational drugs, you wouldn’t have enough wrestlers left for a main event, let alone an undercard, if you suspended all the guys who smoke pot. It’s that widespread.

The drug policy is meant as a deterrent, but not as a deterrent to using drugs. It’s meant to deter you from angering Vince.

Rey pissed off Vince. And now he’s suspended.

The worst thing that ever happened to wrestling was when WCW folded. Without legitimate competition, Vince can indulge every whim.

Remember when Mick Foley was headed to TNA but, out of loyalty to McMahon, gave him a chance to match the offer? McMahon did, but never used Foley properly during the run that followed. It’s the same with Christian and the very minimal push he’s had since returning from TNA. Vince would rather get even than get richer.

Rey Mysterio is suspended because he took a family vacation at a time Vince McMahon deemed inappropriate.  End of story.
