WWE SmackDown Review: Hits And Misses For March 14

Welcome or welcome back to our weekly WWE SmackDown hits and misses series where we recap all the good and bad from the show.

Hit – Opening segment on WWE SmackDown

It was the right decision to book LA Knight kicking off the show. Jimmy Uso’s challenge makes sense since he doesn’t want to miss out on a title match at WrestleMania 41. Solo almost dropped an f-bomb but Jimmy caught him. The crowd made the six-man tag team match a lot of fun. The Strowman-Fatu spot seems to point towards a match on the big stage.

Miss – Pull-apart brawl between Charlotte Flair and Tiffany Stratton

B-Fab had a good showing against Charlotte Flair prior to the Tiffany angle. The whole pull-apart brawl has become a weekly occurrence. Where was security when Charlotte put Tiffany in figure eight for the past two weeks? Tiffany took some high-risk dives, including one from the top of the entrance screen. Charlotte should have been stretchered out of the building after the multiple dives she took. Not that Tiffany landed on her but, at least, do something to make the whole angle look believable.

Hit – Jade Cargill’s sit-down interview on WWE SmackDown

This writer thought Jade did a great job in the sit-down interview. She got emotional and that’s what the segment needed. Jade teased a feud with Bianca while mentioning Naomi. The Liv Morgan walk-in was a nice touch and helped set up the match for next.

Miss – Miz TV with Cody Rhodes

Cena should’ve been on WWE SmackDown this week. He wouldn’t have said a word and the Barcelona crowd would’ve made the segment iconic. Miz was just there to eat a Cross Rhodes and nothing more. At least, we’re getting Cena and Cody in the same building next week.

Hit – Gunther vs. Axiom on WWE SmackDown

Gunther trolling the crow with Hala Madrid was epic. It was great to see Axiom (aka A-Kid) get a much-deserved showing in front of his home country. This match was short but served its purpose. Gunther stood tall after an incredible match against Axiom, who remains one of the best workers on the WWE roster.

Miss – Paul Heyman sells Roman Reigns’ appearance

No Roman Reigns on the first WWE SmackDown of 2025 in Europe is a travesty. The crowd, rightly so, expressed their disappointment. The segment was just an excuse to put over Reigns as the cover superstar of WWE 2K25, as if he isn’t already over. We’ll see what the OTC has to say when he appears live next week on SmackDown.

Hit – New tag team champions

The Street Profits are finally the new WWE Tag Team Champions after a great match against #DIY. Ford and Dawkins last held the title in 2020. WWE must not drop the ball with this title run. Hopefully, the outcome leads to a multi-man tag team match at WrestleMania 41.
