AEW Dynamite Preview (8/14/24)

It’s almost time for AEW Dynamite!

All Elite Wrestling brings its flagship show to Chartway Arena in Norfolk, VA. Adam Page Mercedes Moné, The Elite, and other stars are set for Wednesday night’s show.

Here’s what’s on tap for the August 14 Dynamite episode of AEW Dynamite.

A film by Mariah May

Mariah May’s obsession with Toni Storm keeps getting weirder and weirder.

The 2024 Owen Hart Cup winner is set to face the Timeless One for the AEW Women’s World Championship at All In.

With the title match approaching, AEW will present a film by Mariah May two weeks ahead of this highly-anticipated clash.

Kazuchika Okada and Claudio Castagnoli face-to-face

Claudio Castagnoli earned a shot at the AEW International Championship on the August 3 episode of AEW Collision by beating Lee Moriarty and Tomohiro Ishii.

On Wednesday, Castagnoli will come face-to-face with reigning champion Kazuchika Okada as their match looms large.

Bryan Danielson retrospective on AEW Dynamite

Bryan Danielson has a huge match coming up.

The American Dragon will challenge Swerve Strickland for AEW World Champion at AEW All In. Danielson has announced he will step away from in-ring competition if he fails to beat Strickland for the world title.

Tonight, AEW will air a Bryan Danielson career retrospective that will use Green Day’s “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)”.

Swerve Strickland vs. Wheeler Yuta

Danielson had an extremely grueling match against Jeff Jarrett on the August 7 episode of AEW Dynamite. He picked up the win to score more momentum heading into AEW All In.

After the match, AEW World Champion Strickland came down to the ring and challenged Danielson’s Blackpool Combat Club stablemate Wheeler Yuta to a non-title match.

The two stars will square off tonight at the Chartway Arena.

Triple threat match on AEW Dynamite

It’s a three-way dance on Dynamite as Kyle O’Reilly, Orange Cassidy, and Roderick Strong will collide. The winner of the match will advance to the Casino Gauntlet match for a world title shot at All In.

Who will be the last man standing?

“Hangman” Adam Page vs. Jay Lethal

Adam Page’s animosity with Jeff Jarrett has finally brought Jay Lethal to the mix.

Page cost Jarrett a shot at the world title during the Royal Rampage match two weeks ago. Both men were caught in a fist-fight after AEW Dynamite went off the air last week.

Hangman’s antics prompted Jarrett’s close friend Jay Lethal to challenge the former champion to a singles match on AEW Dynamite.

TBS title match on AEW Dynamite

The AEW TBS Championship will be on the line tonight.

Former three-time AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida takes on Mercedes Moné for the TBS Championship. Shida challenged Mone to a title match following her win on Collision this past weekend.

Will the CEO retain her title, or will Shida emerge as the new TBS Champion on the road to All In? Moné is currently set to defend the gold against Britt Baker at AEW All In.

Young Bucks (c) vs. The Acclaimed – AEW World Tag Team Championship

The Acclaimed have the opportunity to win back the AEW World Tag Team Championship.
