A brutal heartbreak!

Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley kicked off the action for the Women’s World Championship. Mami brought the brutality to the person who cost her three months of her career. Rhea had the momentum until Liv hurt her shoulder. The challenger took some nasty beating but fixed her shoulder in truly epic fashion. Liv brought a chair to the ring but Rhea grabbed it and attempted to take her head off. Dominik stopped Rhea because it would’ve cost her the match only for Liv to hit a second finisher on the chair for the win. After the match, Dom helped Liv to her feet and they kissed, delivering the first shocker of the night.

One of the better matches involving Liv Morgan and the Women’s World Champion. The champion was prepared for the challenger every step of the night. Rhea fixing her shoulder was badass and difficult to look at. She truly is one of a kind. Dom was great in this match, tricking the WWE Universe into thinking he was there to support Mami. Liv kicking out a Riptide was unexpected. After the match, Damian Priest was shown barging into Judgment Day’s lockeroom demanding answer from Finn Balor. Little did Priest know he wasn’t the only one to lose his title and his trust at WWE SummerSlam.

Bron Breakker fulfills his destiny at WWE SummerSlam

Sami Zayn and Bron Breakker ran it back for the Intercontinental Championship. The champion countered the spear in the early goings of the match. Breakker retaliated with tremendous pace. Sami pulled a blue thunder bomb but Breakker survived. It took two spears for the challenger to claim the title for himself.

Sami Zayn’s run with the workman’s title came to an end this past Saturday. This match, while being short, had just the moves to make it work. Bron had previously failed to win the title at Money in the Bank. He wasn’t going to get another W this time around. The legendary Steiners’ reaction to Breakker’s win was wholesome.

YEAH!

Logan Paul showed up alongside Machine Gun Kelly. LA Knight arrived in the stolen Prime Hummer before destroying its windows. Paul attacked Knight before the opening bell. Knight came back with a neck breaker on the announcer’s table. Both men went back and forth inside the ring. Logan showcased his athleticism with an insane springboard moonsault. The U.S. Champion tried to hit Knight with his finisher but the challenger countered with a BFT for the win.

Such a fun match! Paul continues to prove he belongs in the WWE. The man is insane for just how good he is between the ropes. The moonsault was epic though the landing was awkward. I hope Paul is healthy after the dive. Knight was just the right opponent to work the match with Paul. Both men had a great build-up week in and out and the payoff was brilliant. Here’s to the new U.S. Champion, with everybody saying, LA Knight… YEAH!

The Queen claims her gold at WWE SummerSlam

Nia Jax took on Bayley for the WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam 2024. Nia overpowered Bayely till the champion found an opening. Bayley managed to hit Nia with a back suplex. The Role Model pulled off a powerbomb to a huge pop from the crowd. Tiffany Stratton came running to the ring to cash-in her briefcase, but Bayley knocked her out. Nia took advantage of the distraction to hit back-to-back Annihilators on Bayely for the win.

Not the best match of the night, but a solid performance from both women nonetheless. Bayley managed to pop some decent offense on the bigger and stronger Nia. The powerbomb looked great. Tiffany Stratton’s interference was expected, but she didn’t get to cash-in. The tease was good after disaster Drew McIntyre went through at Money in the Bank 2024. Nia gets the women’s title. Tiffany still has the briefcase. It’s only a matter of when and where.

Punk screwed Punk!

Seth Rollins came to ring to officiate the match. He had the referee cam on his ear that WWE debuted during the first match of the night. Drew McIntyre showed up next. CM Punk got one of the biggest pops of the night. The match started and both man jus ran into each other with a barrage of fists. A chair was introduced to the match. A couple of false finishes and near falls later and McIntyre picked up the win at WWE SummerSlam.

To those who thought this was a bad match, what were you even watching?! Punk had his first full-length match after injury hiatus and he showed tremendous cardio. Yes, he’s slow and cannot turn upside down after taking a Claymore at his current age, but the man can still tell one hell of a story inside the ring. Punk’s prized bracelet turned out to be his biggest distraction. Rollins was entertaining as the special guest referee. I think the ending may have just set up Punk versus Rollins inside Hell in a Cell at WWE Bad Blood.

From King General to World Heavyweight Champion

Damian Priest defended his World Heavyweight Championship against Gunther in the penultimate match of the night. Priest wasn’t in his right match due to Dominik’s betrayal of Rhea earlier during the match. Still, the champion brought the fight to the King General. Priest cut open Gunther’s chest with stiff strikes. Both men were evenly matched until Balor put Gunther’s foot on the rope for a rope break. Priest got distracted and Gunther put him to sleep for the win.

This was a wrestling match in every sense of the right. Don’t mind me. I’m a fan of hard-hitting wrestling matches. Priest and Gunther delivered a no-nonsense just pure action match. All the lariats, chops, kicks and forearm strikes added to the brutality on display. It’s been quite some time since somebody went toe-to-toe with Gunther. Props to Priest for going out on such a great performance. As for Gunther, I cannot wait to hear what he has to say on WWE RAW this week.

The Original Tribal Chief returns at WWE SummerSlam

Cody Rhodes put his Undisputed WWE Championship against Solo Sikoa on the line in the main event. Both men collided in a Bloodline Rules match. Solo had Cody’s every move scouted in the early goings. The American Nightmare got some offense but Solo retaliated every time. Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa got involved. Kevin Owens and Randy Orton returned to take out the pair. Jacob Fatu showed up. Fatu squared Cody with a splash through the table, but ‘hurt’ his leg in the process. The biggest highlight of the night arrived when Roman Reigns showed up to take out his cousin, allowing Cody to retain his title in dramatic fashion.

A really, really good main event that foreshadowed the epic return of Roman Reigns. Solo can work a good match. He just needs the right opponent to make him look good. Randy and Owen’s return was great. Both men received a huge pop, but the biggest pop of the night, without a doubt, went to the Original Tribal Chief. Holding off on the eventual staredown between Roman and Jacob was brilliant booking decision. The roof is going to explode when both men eventually come face-to-face. With Bloodline seemingly out of Cody’s way (for the time being), who will step up to challenge the American Nightmare? It remains to be seen.
