5 Feuds For John Cena Before His Retirement

John Cena will embark on his farewell tour in 2025.

The former multi-time WWE Champion told reporters after Money in the Bank he was looking to work tentatively 30-40 dates next year depending on his schedule. Cena also said it wasn’t up to him to pick his opponents for his retirement tour.

Speaking of opponents, there are a lot of superstars on the current roster who haven’t got a chance to stand across the ring with “The GOAT” (yet). Some superstars have reportedly begun angling in the hopes of working with Cena during the tour, while others have publicly expressed their intent.

These five superstars could make for an exciting first (and last) time feud for John Cena before his retirement in 2025.

Bron Breakker

Bron Breakker has turned the main roster upside down ever since he arrived on RAW. The former two-time NXT Champion has been on a rampage for weeks now. Breakker completely squashed an enhancement talent before sending Ricochet packing out of the red brand. General Manager Adam Pearce has tried to negotiate with Breakker but to no avail.

It’s clear WWE sees big things for the second-generation Steiner. He’s every tool it takes to succeed in this business. A feud with John Cena would, undoubtedly, catapult Breakker to new heights. The young star could learn a lot from one of the greatest of all time. Ideally, Breakker would have Paul Heyman as his mouthpiece for a feud with Cena.

Logan Paul wanted to take on John Cena at WrestleMania 39

There’s no denying Logan Paul has solidified himself as a major attraction in WWE. Paul has only had a couple of matches inside the squared circle, but he’s excelled in almost every one of them. His natural athleticism and a knack for in-ring storytelling make him an all-around great competitor.

Paul has publicly advocated for a match against Cena in the past. He famously pushed for it to happen at WrestleMania 39. Of course, the match never happened as WWE went with Cena versus Theory on night one. That said, John Cena versus Logan Paul could be an exciting feud especially if Triple H decides to feature the United States Championship.

Gunther

Gunther is to this business what Nick Bockwinkel was during the old days—a wrestler’s wrestler. The Ring General has been absolutely dominant ever since he first stepped foot in WWE back in 2019. Gunther holds a purist view of this business. The mat is sacred to him and so is the sport.

WWE needs to book this feud in 2025. Gunther and Cena are polar opposites when it comes to their gimmick and in-ring style. This opposition could make for a compelling feud and possibly an even better match-up as part of John Cena’s farewell tour.

Drew McIntyre

John Cena’s tag team title win with David Otunga may be forgettable, but it did come at the expense of Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre. Cena and Otunga defeated the former Dashing Ones at Bragging Rights 2010. Rhodes and McIntyre would go their separate ways shortly after the tag team title loss.

Rhodes is the current Undisputed WWE Champion, while McIntyre is embroiled in arguably the hottest feud on television with CM Punk. The Scottish Warrior is also one of the best promos on the roster. McIntyre is someone who could have a compelling feud with Cena and come out even better than before.

Randy Orton is one of John Cena’s greatest rivals

Randy Orton and John Cena have had many legendary battles. The pair started out in OVW. They, together with Batista and Brock Lesnar, form the “legendary four” class of WWE’s former farm system. Orton and Cena were a staple on WWE television during the 2010s. It won’t be wrong that an entire generation of WWE fans grew up watching their legendary rivalry.

Orton has named Cena as someone who could potentially induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame. It won’t come as a surprise if Triple H has Orton versus Cena in store for the Cenation leader’s farewell tour. The Viper is currently playing a babyface on SmackDown, where he’s involved in a multi-man feud against The Bloodline.
