Who Should Challenge Logan Paul At WrestleMania 40?

Few can claim they’ve had the same success in their rookie year as Logan Paul. The Social Media Megastar silenced critics and naysayers alike with an incredible WWE in-ring debut at WrestleMania 38. His performance would only get better in future outings against the likes of The Miz and Roman Reigns.

Paul, 28, has already competed at the highest level in the industry and yet, it seems he’s only beginning to scratch the surface. His next high-profile match is likely to take place at WrestleMania 40 with the United States Championship at stake, a title he beat WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio for at Crown Jewel 2023.

Assuming the title doesn’t change hands (or gets vacated due to unforeseen circumstances) in the lead-up to WWE’s “Biggest PLE of the Year”, fans could see Paul defend the championship in one of these four matches.

Against Randy Orton in singles competition

Logan Paul loves teasing his future WWE feuds on his Impaulsive podcast. Either this or it’s just pure coincidence. Roman Reigns appeared on his podcast in September 2022. Next thing we know, the two are duking it out at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia. The same thing happened with Rey Mysterio.

Fans may recall that Randy Orton appeared on Impaulsive shortly after his Survivor Series: WarGames comeback. WWE would hint at a massive feud between the Viper and the Maverick at Elimination Chamber: Perth. For those unaware, Paul cost Orton the high-stakes match by knocking him out with a pair of brass knuckles, allowing Drew McIntyre to pick up the win.

Ideally, Paul versus Orton at WrestleMania 40 would be the payoff to the Elimination Chamber angle. That being said, WWE would probably play safe by putting the Legend Killer in a multi-man match due to his history with back injuries.

Logan Paul vs. Kevin Owens II for the United States Title

Logan Paul versus Kevin Owens was arguably the Match of the Night at Royal Rumble 2024. Both men tore the house down with their in-ring work. Paul did a great job as the villainous champion who tried to resort to cheap tactics until they backfired.

The rematch was teased during the Elimination Chamber press event in Perth. Both men would beat the life out of each other inside the caged structure, but neither was able to come out as the new number one contender to the world title.

Going by WWE rules, KO can demand a rematch because he lost the first one via DQ. It seems a clean win alone could satiate the Prizefighter’s hatred for the Maverick. In the middle of all the drama, there’s a Viper slithering in the corner waiting for the right opportunity to strike.

This brings us to…

Logan Paul vs. Kevin Owens vs. Randy Orton

The WWE Universe was treated to a standoff between Kevin Owens and Logan Paul in the lead-up to Elimination Chamber: Perth. Thankfully, the confrontation was averted by both Triple H and Randy Orton. The Legend Killer’s intervention further cemented his credibility as a locker room leader.

With that being said, there was seemingly more to Orton’s intervention that just preventing the situation from turning ugly. Triple H is known for being extremely subtle with how he plants seeds for high-profile matches. The Game might’ve already teased a triple threat match involving Orton, Owens, and Paul.

On paper, this seems to be the right way to book the United States title program. KO once again gets Paul inside the ring. Orton gets the opportunity to strike back at the Maverick for costing him the Perth match. We also get the slow build to Orton’s possible turn on Owens or vice versa. Plus, the three-way match means Orton gets to take the least amount of bumps.

Ladder match at WrestleMania 40

Ladder matches were once a staple part of WrestleMania. From Shawn Michaels’ five-star classic against Razor Ramon to the triangle ladder matches, WrestleMania has hosted some of the most iconic ladder matches of all time with the most important titles at stake.

Speaking of titles and ladder matches, it is possible the United States Championship could be defended in a ladder match come April. Six men from SmackDown all trying to climb the ladder for the belt. Now that sounds like a moment worthy of WrestleMania spotlight.

Ideally, the match-up would feature Austin Theory, Grayson Waller, Kevin Owens, Logan Paul, LA Knight, and Randy Orton. Six participants, six possible winners, and a potential Mania show-stealer.

Take my money!
