The Cruiserweights have come quite a long way since 2016. It was this very year that they were re-introduced to the WWE Universe via the Cruiserweight classic, and what a tournament that turned out to be! It was an instant hit, featuring a lot of incredible matches and even more incredible talent.
They decided that they had enough superstars on the roster to bring back the Cruiserweight division, so in the second half of 2016, after the first Cruiserweight Champion (of the new lineage) was crowned, they officially reintroduced the division. Soon after, 205 Live was formed to give Cruiserweights their own platform, and they’ve transitioned from RAW into 205 Live fully over a matter of time.
It’s interesting because the journey of the reformed Cruiserweight division hasn’t all been steady. In fact, the story is something that’s still ongoing, and the Cruiserweight superstars have put in their blood, sweat and tears into 205 Live and all of their matches.
