The blue brand walked into 2019 with a lot of momentum. Since the 2016 brand split, the quality of the blue brand has flip-flopped from year to year. In 2016 after the brand split, SmackDown Live was the hottest brand on wrestling television. After the Superstar Shake-Up in 2017, it felt like the blue brand had been gutted of a lot of top stars, and the main event scene lacked the previous quality it held and the year as a whole wasn’t too good, with a few exceptions.
2018, however, saw a big turnaround after the Superstar Shake-Up. While RAW hadn’t been gutted in the same way that SmackDown did the previous year, there was a nice crop of talent that popped up. And for some reason, WWE decided to completely strengthen SmackDown’s tag team division while gutting RAW’s.
Either way, the quality went up, and this year, there won’t be another turnaround in quality. We believe that SmackDown will be the undisputed better brand, and here’s why.
