Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up: Naomi Is Money, Alex Windsor Is Elite, Rita Stone Interview

Naomi claims the WWE Money in the Bank briefcase. Alex Windsor confirms herself as All Elite. Rita Stone chats with WrestleZone and more!

Naomi Is Miss Money in the Bank

At WWE Money in the Bank, Naomi scaled a ladder to retrieve the Women’s Money in the Bank briefcase. In doing so, she also secured herself a future title match of her choosing at any time and any place within the next 365 days.

Currently, IYO SKY reigns as the WWE Women’s World Champion, while Tiffany Stratton holds the WWE Women’s Championship. After a victory over Lyra Valkyria at Money in the Bank, Becky Lynch now serves as the Women’s Intercontinental Champion. Zelina Vega is the Women’s United States Champion. Regardless of who the current titleholders are, Naomi advises them, and her doubters, to proceed with caution.

“After experiencing my little situation, my walk out, and going to TNA, I came back with a different mindset and different attitude,” Naomi said on the Money in the Bank post-show. “I think it is one that I needed all along. The glow in the beginning of my career got me this far, but I definitely felt with this new revelation and evolution of women and this top-tier talent, I had to become something else to get back to the top. And that is what I’m on the journey of doing and becoming now. Everybody who don’t believe in me, who don’t like it, got something to say, better proceed with freakin’ caution.”

On her path to MITB victory, Naomi battled Alexa Bliss, Rhea Ripley, Stephanie Vaquer, Giulia, and Roxanne Perez. Heading in, Bliss was the only one with a Money in the Bank briefcase win, having won it in 2018. With her Carmella-coded ring gear, Naomi did the same this year.

Alex Windsor Is All Elite

At EVE 135: Hit Me Baby One More Time, Syuri bested Alex Windsor to retain her IWGP Women’s Championship. Still, Windsor found something to celebrate in the moments after.

In front of the Pro-Wrestling EVE fans, Windsor thanked EVE and its fanbase for always supporting women’s wrestling. Windsor also referred to the company as a place she and her peers could call home. For a while now, though, Windsor will be away from that home as she confirmed her signing with All Elite Wrestling.

With this move, Windsor noted that EVE 135 would be her last EVE and overall independent wrestling match for a long time. In EVE, Windsor is a former EVE Champion. Looking ahead, it appears her eyes are now fixed on the titles in AEW, the TBS and AEW Women’s Championship.

Windsor has some previous experience in AEW, having teamed with Anna Jay on AEW Rampage and battling “Timeless” Toni Storm in singles competition. Most recently, the British star challenged Athena for the ROH Women’s Championship at AEW x ROH Global Wars Australia in February.

In coming aboard to AEW, Windsor will join her real-life significant other, Will Ospreay, also a former AEW International Champion.

Like Windsor, former AEW Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter is an EVE alum. In February 2025, Hayter returned to the promotion for the Multiverse Rumble event, in which she went one-on-one with Windsor.

First Match For WWE Evolution 2 Confirmed

For the first time in seven years, WWE will host Evolution, an all-women’s premium live event, this time emanating from Atlanta, Georgia.

On this week’s episode of WWE NXT, NXT General Manager Ava confirmed the first match on the card. Following her successful title defense over Lainey Reid, NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne will defend her title at the July 13 PLE. Her challenger? One of eight top NXT stars.

As announced by Ava, eight women will compete in four different singles matches next week, with the winners advancing to a four-way elimination match on June 24. The victor of that four-way bout will then earn the right to vie for the NXT Women’s Championship at Evolution.

The four qualifying matches are as follows:

  • Jordynne Grace vs. Lola Vice
  • Lash Legend vs. Kelani Jordan
  • Thea Hail vs. Jaida Parker
  • Zaria vs. Izzi Dame

Elsewhere on NXT this week, former AEW Women’s Champion Mariah May revealed her WWE ring name as Blake Monroe. This is reportedly a tribute to Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe and May’s niece, Blake.
