Jaida Parker clinches a shot at the NXT Women’s Championship. Hyan wins the 2024 Queen of The Indies. Shawna Reed chats with WrestleZone, and more! Let’s break it down in this week’s edition of Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up!
WWE NXT No Mercy Adds Two New Matches
At WWE NXT No Mercy, Roxanne Perez will defend her NXT Championship against a fresh face. That face, of course, is Jaida Parker, who clinched this title shot after an impressive showcase in this week’s Gauntlet Eliminator match.
Originally, the field’s lineup included Jaida Parker, Sol Ruca, Wren Sinclair, Adriana Rizzo, Kendal Grey, and Karmen Petrovic. Petrovic was later replaced by Brinley Reece, however, as Izzi Dame attacked her in the parking lot prior to the show.
This match ultimately came down to Sol Ruca and Jaida Parker, with Parker landing a drive-by hip attack for the win. As such, Parker will now challenge Perez for the NXT Women’s Championship at No Mercy on September 1.
Elsewhere at No Mercy, NXT Women’s North American Champion Kelani Jordan will put her title on the line against the nightmare-ish Wendy Choo. This match comes after Choo defeated Lola Vice on this week’s episode of WWE NXT. Jordan then challenged Choo to face her at No Mercy. Choo agreed, leading the two to then brawl in the ring, until Jordan stood triumphant.

Hyan Wins The 2024 Queen of The Indies
Eight women entered the field, but only one could walk out as the 2024 Queen of the Indies.
Coordinated by West Coast Pro Wrestling and Pro Wrestling Revolution, the 2024 Queen of the Indies event emanated from the United Irish Cultural Center in San Franciso on August 17. On it, eight women competed in a grueling tournament, in which the winner would earn her place on the proverbial throne.
The field for this year’s Queen of the Indies tournament included Maya World, Hyan, Promise Braxton, Vert Vixen, Kylie Rae, Amazona, Keyra Strong, and the 2023 winner, Masha Slamovich. Unfortunately for Slamovich, her throne has now been claimed by someone else, namely “The Renaissance Woman” Hyan.
This development emerged after Hyan and Slamovich faced off in the tournament finals. In the end, Hyan laid out “The Russian Dynamite” with a kick and chickenwing facebuster for the win. In the round prior, Hyan and Slamovich found victory over Amazona and Promise Braxton in tag team competition.
Elsewhere, former WWE star Xia Li (now Xia Zhao) emerged victorious in her first-ever independent wrestling match. For this occasion, Li teamed up with Viva Van and Aja Kong to defeat Amira, Karisma, and Lady Apache.
The full results of 2024 Queen of the Indies are as follows:
- Queen Of The Indies First Round: Hyan defeated Maya World
- Queen Of The Indies First Round: Promise Braxton defeated Vert Vixen
- Queen Of The Indies First Round: Masha Slamovich defeated Kylie Rae
- Queen Of The Indies First Round: Amazona defeated Keyra Strong
- Aja Kong, Viva Van & Xia Zhao defeat Amira, Karisma, and Lady Apache (13:23)
- Queen Of The Indies Semi-Final Tag Team: Hyan and Masha Slamovich defeat Amazona and Promise Braxton
- Battle Royal: Mainey defeated Abigail Warren, Alice Vendetta, Beatrice Domino, Eliza Hammer, and Miko Alana
- Great Sakuya defeated Brooke Havok
- Queen Of The Indies Final: Hyan defeated Masha Slamovich

Mandy Rose Set To Return To Wrestling World Next Month
On September 4, four men and four women will compete in the DraftKings Wrestling Combine, with the aim of proving who is the fastest, the strongest and the most athletic of the bunch. This combine comes as part of the Crowning Glory event, which will be held under the banner of Black Label Pro.
The full lineup of participating women was confirmed earlier this week:
- TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace
- Xia Zhao (formerly WWE’s Xia Li)
- Ash by Elegance (formerly WWE’s Dana Brooke)
- Mandy Sacs (formerly WWE’s Mandy Rose)
Crowning Glory will mark Sacs’ first competition-related appearance since departing from WWE in December 2022. Sacs’ last in-ring encounter occurred on the December 13, 2022 episode of WWE NXT, in which she lost the NXT Women’s Championship to Roxanne Perez. Since then, Rose has primarily focused on outside projects, including a podcast, her skincare line, and exclusive digital content.
Former WWE star Tenille Dashwood will also be at Crowning Glory in support of her husband Mike Rallis, who is also competing in the DraftKings Wrestling Combine.
