Stephanie Vaquer Is Ready To Kick Down The Forbidden Door

It may not be wise for Mercedes Moné to underestimate her next TBS title challenger as Stephanie Vaquer has plenty of accolades herself.

At the upcoming AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door show, TBS Champion Mercedes Moné will face NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer in a Title For Title match. Though Mercedes currently holds one pinfall victory over Stephanie, a lot has changed since their first encounter.

Brief background on Stephanie Vaquer

Hailing from San Fernando, Chile, “La Primera” Stephanie Vaquer has nearly 15 years of professional wrestling experience under her belt. As of the time of writing, she is a reigning three-belt champion. Stephanie holds the CMLL World Women’s Championship and half of the CMLL World Women’s Tag Team Championship in her home promotion, Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre. In NJPW, however, she dethroned former champion Giulia to become NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion in Korakuen Hall back in March. Stephanie has since successfully defended her titles against the likes of AZM, Alex Windsor, La Catalina, and La Jarochita.

As a competitor under CMLL, Stephanie Vaquer is well-versed in the lucha libre wrestling style. She also possesses a mix of mat-based, technical arsenal with daredevil high-flying maneuvers to surprise her opponents. Wrestling fans who may be interested in seeing her work may watch her match highlights on CMLL’s YouTube.

Stephanie also competed in the one-night tournament to crown the inaugural NJPW STRONG Womens’ Championship at NJPW Resurgence. She, however, lost to Mercedes Moné in the first round in a highly competitive matchup.

Upcoming Forbidden Door match

Now, the two will meet again in singles action after over a year since their first encounter. Stephanie Vaquer has made an even bigger name for herself by competing outside of CMLL, primarily in NJPW STRONG shows in the US. Can Stephanie seek vengeance and finally defeat Mercedes, or will the CEO remain on top with newly won NJPW gold from La Primera?
