Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up: Kylie Rae Returns, Willow Nightingale Earns Ticket To Gold, Britt Baker Makes A Mark

Welcome to the first edition of Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up!

This past week has certainly delivered a lot of content for the women’s wrestling world: Kylie Rae signs with NWA, Willow Nightingale earns her Ticket To Gold in Ring Honor’s Women’s Championship Tournament, Britt Baker Becomes AEW Women’s World Champion, Vice TV announces a Chyna documentary, and much more. Let’s break it down!

Kylie Rae Returns to Professional Wrestling

Last fall, Kylie Rae announced that she would be retiring from professional wrestling, but this past weekend marked her return to the squared circle. On Saturday, June 5th, Kylie returned to in-ring action at Night 1 of Warrior Wrestling’s 2021 Stadium Series, retaining her Warrior Wrestling Women’s Championship against Holidead. Warrior Wrestling brought even more women’s wrestling action to Night 1 of their 2021 Stadium Series with current IMPACT Knockout’s Champion Deonna Purrazzo defeating Ray Lyn.

Following Warrior Wrestling’s 2021 Stadium Series, Kylie Rae made her in-ring debut for NWA (National Wrestling Alliance) the next day, at their pay-per-view event: NWA When Our Shadows Fall. Rae teamed with Taryn Terrell, defeating former NWA World Women’s Champion, Thunder Rosa and former WWE Women’s Champion, Melina Perez, after Rae pinned Perez.

Following this tag team matchup, it was revealed that Kylie Rae is now officially signed to NWA.

Speaking of NWA, a NEW NWA World Women’s Champion was also crowned at the pay-per-view event, When Our Shadows Fall, as Kamille defeated the now former champion, Serena Deeb.

Willow Nightingale Earns Ticket To Gold

Women’s wrestling is also heating up in the world of Ring Of Honor as we build towards the upcoming Women’s Championship Tournament, slated to take place this summer. Angelina Love, Rok-C, Miranda Alize, Trish Adora, Allysin Kay, and Mazzerati have already earned their spots in this prestigious tournament in the last few weeks. Most recently, Willow Nightingale defeated Alex Gracia on the latest edition of ROH’s Women’s Division Wednesday in a hard fought battle; thus, earning her Ticket To Gold in this summer’s Women’s Championship Tournament, as Ring Of Honor looks to crown a new inaugural champion.

Britt Baker Wins AEW Women’s Title, Receives AEW Action Figure

Dr. Britt Baker has been making a definite mark as of late. Britt Baker recently defeated Hikaru Shida at AEW’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view to become the new AEW Women’s World Champion. The self-proclaimed face of AEW’s women’s division has certainly grown into the favor of wrestling fans, garnering much ovation and praise within the wrestling community. Likewise, Baker reportedly earned herself a new action figure in the upcoming AEW Unmatched Series One, as announced at Double or Nothing Fan Fest.

The future of the AEW Women’s division is in great hands with the DMD.

First-Ever Chyna Documentary Announced

Vice TV recently announced the ‘Vice Versa: Chyna’ documentary, which will feature the rise and fall of WWE’s most dominant women’s wrestler, set to premiere on Thursday, June 17th. This documentary marks the first series ever to depict the life of “The Ninth Wonder of the World”, Chyna. The official trailer for the documentary can be viewed at this link.

Ahead of Mission Pro Wrestling’s Keep Em Talkin’ event on June 12th, Madi Wrenkowski recently appeared on MPW On A Mission podcast to reveal that she will be out of in-ring action for four to six weeks due to a fractured nose, and will therefore be undergoing commentary duties at the event instead. Wrenkowski was slated to compete against Holidead at the Mission Pro event, but was recently attacked from behind and slammed into a car door in a Mission Pro angle.

Former 6-time WWE Women’s Champion, Mickie James appeared on Busted Open Radio last week to discuss her latest music single “Grown Ass Women” (with Chapel Hart), her recent release from WWE, and her future plans in professional wrestling:

In honor of June being Pride month, WWE’s Sonya Deville (Real Name: Daria Berenato) recently spoke with Women’s Health Magazine to discuss coming out on national television, her path to WWE’s Tough Enough, promoting equality and more. “This is your life and your journey, so be proud of who you are, regardless of what you identify as or who you love”, Deville proclaims.

Current WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Natalya and Tamina appeared on Renee Paquette’s Oral Sessions podcast, speaking on Tamina’s 4,000-day journey to her first WWE women’s title, Vince McMahon’s reaction to their championship victory, Tyson Kidd, and much more.
