Tammy Sytch, formerly known as Sunny in WWE, pleaded not guilty to multiple charges linked to the fatal crash she was involved in.
In March 2022, Sytch’s vehicle crashed into a stopped car in Volusia County, Florida, and the incident resulted in the death of seventy-five-year-old Julian LaFrancis Lasseter. Sytch was charged with DUI causing death, and she has been held at the Volusia County Branch Jail since May 2022.
Per Frank Fernandez of the Daytona Beach News-Journal, Sytch pleaded no contest to being charged with DUI causing death. Sytch also pleaded no contest to one felony charge of driving with a suspended revoked license causing death.
Additionally, she pleaded no contest to four counts of DUI with damage to person, and two counts of DUI with damage to property. The maximum sentence is up to 25 years in prison. Fernandez wrote that she must serve a four-year minimum sentence.
TMZ reports that Sytch initially pleaded not guilty to all charges, However, she altered her pleas as she reached an agreement with the prosecutors.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that Sytch’s nolo contendere plea means that the defendant accepts conviction as though guilty without admitting fault or guilt. The State of Florida has accepted the plea and asked that the misdemeanors be counted as time served. Sytch’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for November 27.
