Willow Nightingale is hours away from her rubber match against Athena for the Ring of Honor Women’s World Championship, but will it close the show?
All Elite Wrestling‘s Willow Nightingale recently sat down with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about her upcoming Ring of Honor Women’s World Title match with Athena at Death Before Dishonor possibly being the main event, Nightingale said that hasn’t been determined yet.
“I mean, that is something that is not 100% determined; we would really love it if that were the case,” Willow Nightingale admitted. “This will be our third time facing each other off, so it’s a rubber match. It’s also the titles on the line. I think at this point, I’m probably the person who’s challenged for the Ring of Honor Women’s Championship more than anyone.
“And on a personal note, Athena is somebody I’ve admired for years and years throughout my entire career. So to be able to work with her is an honor in that capacity. But then, from a professional standpoint, she’s very the opposite of me in terms of her personality, so I think, regardless of whatever our feelings are for one another, we both know that we’re very hard-hitting and can bring a really good fight for the Ring of Honor fans to see and enjoy.”
When asked about what match on the pay-per-view she’s most looking forward to watching, Nightingale pointed to the Ring of Honor World Television Championship match between Samoa Joe and Dalton Castle.
“Personally, for me, I think I’m really looking forward to Joe and Dalton Castle,” Willow Nightingale said. “Joe, somebody being a huge idol and role model to me, and Dalton, someone who I’m endlessly entertained by and someone I consider a friend. So that’s a huge deal for him as well. So from like a personal stakes and interest in the humans themselves, as well as what the match can be. I think I’m looking forward to that the most.”
