New Japan Pro Wednesday (8/15) G1 Climax Fallout

The G1 Climax is over. Stars have been given out. A winner has been crowned. New Japan Fans can finally set their body clocks to local time. Here’s all the fallout and final standings from the 28th annual G1 Climax.

Okada Parts Ways With Gedo

The biggest announcement after this year’s G1 Climax was that former-IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada announced that New Japan booker Gedo will no longer be his second for singles matches. The two have been almost inseparable since Okada returned to the company in 2012. Okada will still be the leader of CHAOS, but his time being so close with Gedo has come to an end.

Tanahashi Courts Faction Members, Including Ibushi

G1 Climax winner Hiroshi Tanahashi has been seemingly trying to build NJPW’s next faction. Throughout the G1 Climax, Tanahashi has been singling out wrestlers that he’d like to team with. The Ace first started with Hangman Page, who the Ace said could redeemable if the Bullet Club is purged from his heart. The Ace also singled out YOSH-HASHI. Tanahashi felt that the long-time underrated CHAOS member needs a change that only The Ace could help him with. Tanahashi then made a big splash at the post-G1 Climax Finals press conference, where Tanahashi said that Kota Ibushi would never be the top guy in Kenny Omega’s shadow. What does Tanahashi have planned?
