As we limp towards the finish line of SummerSlam the difference in Heavyweight Championship matches are staggering.

In the red corner (RAW) we have a match that fans have seen twice. Neither match was memorable. If we do get a new champion the fans will continue to reject the current Roman Reigns character.

In the blue corner (SmackDown Live) we have a match that fans have not seen on PPV, AJ Styles vs Samoa Joe. In that match we have a challenger who looks credible and believable. It is a match that fans want to see.

Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar should mean a lot more than it will. Could it be the ending of the Brock Lesnar WWE Universal Championship reign? Maybe even the ending of Brock Lesnar’s run with WWE? The ending of the conqueror of The Undertakers undefeated streak?

It all should be a historic achievement that should help add to the legacy of Roman Reigns.

Sadly, it won’t mean nearly as much as it should due to inconsistent booking and a lack of effort by Brock Lesnar.

Roman Reigns should win the championship at SummerSlam and finally slay The Beast.

The hard part is, by the time the match is over, will anyone even care?

Here are a few “alternate ending” scenarios to the Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns match at SummerSlam that I think could give the fans a satisfying conclusion to this feud.

1.) Roman Reigns Wins… And Then He Loses

The match has to be more than 15 German Suplexes followed by 7 F-5s in a 10 minute match.

Have Brock continue to build toward the F-5 and not be able to execute it on Roman until it means something. Each time Brock can’t fully complete the F-5 it will lead towards the one time he does execute the move and it will matter more to the fans.

Have Roman Reigns take everything The Beast can throw at him, which was perfectly executed in WrestleMania 31. Roman needs to appear beaten and broken, yet continue to never say die.

Roman Reigns hits The Spear/Superman Punch combo for the 1-2-3 victory. The post-match here matters. Roman needs to show fatigue and exhaustion having to go through hell and back to defeat Lesnar.

As Roman is struggling to celebrate we hear “BRRRRRRRRAAAAAUUUUUUUNNNN”. That’s right, Braun Strowman comes down the ramp to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase. Braun takes advantage of a weak Roman Reigns quickly. He pins Romans Reigns for the 1-2-3 and your NEW WWE Universal Heavyweight Champion is Braun Strowman.

2.) Brock Lesnar Squashes Roman Reigns & A New Star Is Made

Remember John Cena vs Brock Lesnar at Summerslam 2014? Let’s do that again. This only works if Vince McMahon has accepted that Roman Reigns isn’t working as THE GUY.

The match is relatively simple. Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns bore us to death with a 15 minute squash match. A ton of German Suplexes and a ton of F-5s. Brock Lesnar makes mincemeat of Roman Reigns for the 1-2-3 leaving a shocked crowd to think, “What if Brock Lesnar leaves with the WWE Universal Heavyweight Championship?”

Brock has to tell the story during the match that he doesn’t really care about being a WWE wrestler. Mirroring the melee of Daniel Cormier and Brock Lesnar at UFC, have Corey Graves go into the ring at the end of the match to get a word with Brock Lesnar. As Lesnar is putting down WWE and WWE fans while proclaiming he is going to win a “real title” in UFC we get “BBBBBBBRRRAAAAUUUUNNN.”

Braun comes down and says that he has had enough of Brock Lesnar putting down WWE. Braun announces right then and there that is cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase. Brock Lesnar attempts to do to Braun Strowman what he did to Roman Reigns, but Braun Strowman does not sell the impact of the moves. Braun Strowman performs his running powerslam finisher three straight times to Brock Lesnar and pins him in the middle of the ring for the 1-2-3. Winner and NEW WWE Universal Heavyweight Champion Braun Strowman.

With either finish, WWE would have a champion the fans can get behind and could potentially build up Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman for Survivor Series, Royal Rumble or WrestleMania 35.
